I attended the council meeting last night to witness what would happen to school board elections and I am so glad Bernice, Plaintalker II, has a full report on last night's council's special meeting.  The school board elections were moved to November and you can read Bernice's post HERE.  The meeting was being taped so we might be able to see it soon at the local channel.  Thanks for checking!

They are spending $63,000 of Plainfield tax dollars on Disney World?? As an educational experience? Whatever happened to dude ranches and amusement parks? And the board had the nerve to show up at the council meeting and talk about "education" and caring. They need to be voted out.

Most districts the kids have to pay for their senior trip! This is insane! Aren't there more than 80 kids in the senior class?

The parents and students raised these funds so that our kids can go.

The parents and students did not raise the funds, they are coming out of the budget, 2:29 (obviously a parent) is wrong. Look at where the charge is coming from. This is out of line, totally a travesty. Please follow up on it Maria. The board could spend these funds on more books or on a true educational experience for our kids which could also include fun activities. But to have the nerve to act like Disney World is some kind of educational experience is insane.

Ooh 2:29 there you go adding truth to the tyrade don't you get it. It's better for them to blame and cause division it keeps them from having to actual do anything productive.

2:29 AM:

If you are involved in the fund raising you describe, why did the BOE need a resolution for the funds? Will the cost come from the general fund or donations?

Thank you for your input.

I am in between errands but when I come back this afternoon I hope to have some answers on the questions above. Thanks!

12:38 are you serious? The account for deposits is called general funds. should they be expected to have some parent hold on to the money until it's time. Doesn't this seem like the most effective and secure way to manage an over 20 year practice. Come up with some real stuff and stop this ridiculous bashing nonsense.
