Back on late 2010 there were some violent and deadly incidents with very young people that prompted me to research what other communities were doing, the result was posted on November 2010 and talked about the Center for Disease Control and its new initiative to understand and reduce youth violence, STRYVE (Striving to Reduce Youth Violence Everywhere) See LINK. I remember asking few local elected officials about the possibility to bring such campaign and efforts here, but the idea got nowhere back then. Today I read at the Courier News that Union County Freeholders adopted a resolution to establish the program countywide (News HERE). I had nothing to do with the county initiative but I am pleased to see the program finally happening. Plainfield will be one of the cities that will be receiving help from this program.
Lesson, once again, learned: If local elected officials don't hear you here, try higher political venues.
