Who Will Be Plainfield's Exemplary K-5 Educators?

Clarification:  The district does indeed recognize teachers and staff.  The recognition event has been in place since Dr. Gallon III started doing it back on 2008-09.  Where I failed on this post was on making a stronger case, or more clear, or highlighting, or underlining, the part where I wrote "in public, with a [written] post at the school district's website".  As it is now, there are pictures of the event celebrated last year posted at the district's photo gallery, but nothing written that recognizes the merits of those recognized; in my opinion, Plainfield Public Schools can do better than just post pictures.  My apologies to those who felt insulted.

Every year the NJ Department of Education runs some kind of recognition award to those who are excellent educators.  Every year since I have been in Plainfield I have waited to see who gets nominated from Plainfield because the district does have some truly amazing teachers that do much with the little resources they are given by the district's administration and school board.  It is time to demand request that those excellent teachers that are working hard day in and day out get the recognition they have earned.  I know every school has at least one teacher that fits into the criteria of a "K-5 Exemplary Educator".  We, the community, would love to see the school board and the school district recognize these excellent teachers, in public, with a post at the school district's website.  Will the school board and top administration once and for all stop whining about bad press give us something good to talk about?  The nomination form is below.

(While the NJDOE process is "confidential" nothing stops PPSD to publicly recognize those teachers that excel and let the community know who they are and why they excel)

Maria; you are really not being fair [although not complete surprising]. Each year the district holds a red carpet event to do exactly what you mention. They are posted on the website.
It is not only unfair but quite "disingenious" to suggest that the teachers chosen as teacher of the year don't get their proper recognition. Good press starts at home with open eyes, a pure heart [ something you need to work on] and a want for honest communication.

12:46,

While there was a "Red Carpet" event that I remember about under Gallon, was there one last year? Was it advertised on the district's website? If so, can you please point me to it? I searched the district's website and the only one that I found was the one on 2010 and the link to the news says: "link not found". Stop whining. Recognize teachers openly, let the community know of these teachers and feel proud of them and don't break the links of those good past news just because they point to a different era. Thanks. :-)

Awe you can't find it so it must not have happened. Too funny! If you run for the Board I'd vote for you.

Pure heart, now there's something to work on! Did you just tell someone to stop whining? Are you serious? You are the queen of whining and God forbid you don't get want you wah, wah want. Lady you are a trip. And you won't run for the Board because that would mean you would have to do something more than give tainted reviews and reports. Keep writing it keeps me going to church.

2;12,

Why do you sound sour? If I can't find the information is exactly the reason why I am saying that recognition should be "public" so we all know about it. I can find Gallon's but can't find the link to last year. Why?

2:24,

Thanks for the link to the pictures, but this is not what I am asking for, public recognition should be more than pictures, or is that all the hard working employees of PPSD deserve?

The picture represents the entire event. Now you are sound ridiculous.

Why do you sound so bitter?

2:33,

Why are you so angry when I call on the district to do a better job recognizing teachers? Don't they deserve to have their recognition on an easy to access spot at the district's website? The link you sent is from last year and unless one takes on the magnifying glasses one misses the tiny letters all they way to to bottom of the screen that will take you to the "pictures" of the event. Now, come on, this is a school district event, you are telling me that there is no one that can write a small thing about why teachers and staff are being recognized, each one of them? Where is example of good writing that the district ought to exhibit at every single opportunity they have? We want our students to pass NJASK but the district is not willing to set a good writing example? Please tell us what stops the district from writing a small piece of recognition to the staff who work so hard.

YOU have the audacity to talk about good writing habit! Really calm down you were wrong. The pictures represent the culmination of the event. The newspapers were invited, invitations were sent it was quite a tadoooooo. Sorry you missed it but because YOU did doesn't mean it didn't happen and that it was VERY WELL attended and appreciated by ALL STAFF who were recognized.

2:24,

I am glad I keep you going to church.

5:53,

First, what is a tadoooooo? As for the event, I am glad the event was appreciated, just as I am sure the community will be glad when events of this kind get better reported by the district. You are still not answering the simple, direct question: What stops the district from writing what the event was about and why the staff was recognized? It is a simple question, can you provide a simple answer with simple words and in a simple, professional manner? As for the writing habit, I am so glad I have it despite of the many challenges that writing in a language I didn't grow up with offers, add to that I don't have a college degree, yet I still find a way to express myself and inform many others on school matters. If I can do it, so could the district who enjoys the benefit of having college educated professionals. wouldn't you agree?

then write what you want the district to post. there was a presentation of speakers maybe you can OPRA a copy and post it on your blog. You know what they say if someone isn't doing what you need done, then do it yourself. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

11:51,

Thanks for your response. How sad that the point of the district providing better information to Plainfield parents and community is not a point you and I share. Thanks.

What i don't share is your view of what that looks like and that is not sad it's simply different. something you don't honor too often but hey when one is looking for faults (you) and the other for solutions (me) it certainly make sense our view would be polar opposite. have an awesome and productive day.

7:27,

Thanks for sharing that you are looking for solutions. Can you please share some of your solutions to the problems the district has? Thanks. And thanks for wishing me an awesome day. I wish you the same.
