You read HERE the concerns parents and staff raised at the last Plainfield school board meeting. The answers from the district were from silence to telling those presenting the concerns that directives were given to those in charge of the building to address the specific need parents spoke of, like in the case of the Teacher Assistants for Evergreen' Kindergartner classrooms.
On the integrity of the entrance to PAAAS the interim superintendent responded that she personally had not given any instructions for any student to be admitted to PAAAS without the proper screening. And she added that student information was confidential matter.
On the issues with the Cheerleaders. The interim superintendent blamed misinformation and offered to have written guidelines this month for those handling athletes and the crowds.
When it came to staff issues, the following was taped:
The staff member who applied and never got a call from Human Resources was told to file a "grievance" with his Union.
PEA's President raised concerns on the hiring process, then jumped to say that she had some new information on a substitute teacher and that she would like to see the superintendent and the board later.
Woodland's Principal, who was there also to raise concerns on her building's staff, was told that there was a better venue to raise her concerns.
On the question of the process for hiring staff the school board appeared to have no full knowledge on the proper process for hiring, they asked the superintendent to describe the process, she did and she assured that she would look into how the HR Department is handling interviews and that if a fault was found then she would take of it.
These are the answers I have on my notes. Next post let's see how some of these answers are in need of more than lip service. If you heard different answers and/or would like to add your input and views on this post, please, by all means, use the comment box. Don't be shy!

Personally, I feel that the superintendent and assistant superintendent are doing agood job with a reduced support staff. This is the first time in a long time that we haven't had major drama surrounding the superintendent. I believe her heart is in the right place. When you work in a district this large there are bound to be segments of people who are dissatified with something.
AS far as the hiring process-I know several teachers who applied to the jobs and their was a panel asking tough questions-plus there were many people sitting in the hallway waiting to be interviewed. I believe they posted some jobs several times.
As far as the staffing in schools-if a teacher is on leave you can't simply hire someone.
Someone wrote about moving principals around the last minute-in the summer but I remember reading that was because the state wouldn't approve the reconstructing plan for schools in need of improvement-or something like that. So they had to make changes quickly.
Like I said-this is the first time in a long time that there hasn't been constant drama in the district. Is ther room for improvement-yes, of course, always! I think the current adminstration has earned our respect and deserves our support.
10:41,
Thanks for bringing a voice of support for the administration, I am sure they appreciate support as their job is not easy, hopefully some of the situations the district has at this moment can be resolved without any major drama, our community surely doesn't not need any more added drama, it never did, we actually need results. As for respect and support, our students, their families and our residents deserve it too, part of giving respect is providing meaningful and timely information, it is sad when I learn that parents find of district plans, or results, from my blog. Information is one big area that needs improvement and for this you do not need a a large administrative body, you just need to want to do it. Thanks.

Sugar-coating is pleasant to look at from afar, however it does not make rotten bananas good!
Sugar-coating and denial is why PPS is a brewing MESS! The REAL matters of hiring without due process for ALL employees, subs for VACANCIES!!, state-funded Kindergarten assistants, shoddy communication, ignored and hidden/not-posted procedural regs... ARE OCCURRING and just the tip of the newest iceberg.
The sugar-coating is melting off because, no matter how hard individual students, parents and teachers work, a rotten banana must be discarded!
We need a new (CLEAN HOUSE!) central admin...and we need an OPEN HIRING PROCESS...Written, FOLLOWED & Published online!
We should not be ashamed to have dirty laundry, UNLESS WE NEVER WASH IT, hide it in central offices, pay it enormous salaries/benefits and keep on using it to clean-up our schools...
The good heart of Plainfield is too ethical/moral/legal to even entertain sugar-coating!
Wow! 10:41 seems to me to had a personal issue with central office. What is being sugar coated anyway? It sounds like they are a disgruntaled employee?
I agree the superintendent needs our support to move the district forward. The students don't have the luxury of time-we need a solid cirriculum with well implemented programs. To me, the most important thing is to have leadership that is moving the district forward. We can't wait around for things to happen. I agree the absence of drama is refreshing.
I also agree that a big issue is communication-the BOE meetings would be great if they could be broadcasted!
