Plainfield Taxpayers Spent Almost 2 Million Dollars in Less than 18 Months?

This afternoon while doing dishes I was doing the mental math for PMUA's settlement and the school board's long list of settlements that were finally ratified in public last week (HERE, page 38).  In total it seems we have paid close to 2 million dollars on settlements in less than 2 years and this doesn't include legal fees!  Ouch!  Just think of what could had been done with almost 2 million dollars here in the city.

This is exactly what I said when the Board decided to hire two law firm instead of one. I never felt that this was a good idea and not good judgement regarding the use of the public's money. But these things don't come into consideration when they make their decisions. Now you see that 2 million dollars has been spent not on the children again. The Board is constantly showing their are in over their heads and some should just leave so we can put people who are more capable.

How can you contribute the entire $2M to Plainfield when in fact the State and Fed contribute over 80% of the school's buget. Using that logic the MOST Plainfield could cover is $200K. Take your blinders off lady.

10:54-if you really want to know if your assertion is correct compare the cost of legal fees prior to this sitting board with previous expenses for legal service with one firm. Then and only then will you have a valid point, otherwise you are simply personalizing the issue.

My people parish for lack of knowledge!

10:54,

I think Plainfield now has only one law firm, not sure about this one. Thanks.

9:43,

And where do the state and federal government get their money from? Have they become self-sufficient? Please let me know. But you are right, I should change my title to "Plainfield BOE and PMUA spend 2 million dollars of hard-working taxpayer's money on settlements". Would that make you happy? Please let me know. Thanks.

9:47 (and 9:43?),

Could you please share the information? Let's end the speculation with facts. Thanks.
