The Plainfield School District Has Been Found To Be "DINI"

"DINI" is "District in Need of Improvement".  The "in need of improvement" status usually goes to schools, when it goes to districts, well, it is the entire district that is in need of improvement.  This "District in Need of Improvement" status was apparently assigned to Plainfield school district sometime during this school year.

I had no idea the whole district had gotten the "DINI" status.  Anyway.  Today while looking at the district's website own NCLB-Parents Resources page for a friend I found a letter, dated December 21, 2011, directed to parents on how the district got into the "DINI" status.  The letter closes with the following sentence:

"We look forward to work with parents and the community to help increase the academic achievement of our students".

One question:

Have you, as a community member, received notification from the district that they are looking for your help?

Please let me know because I have not seen anything posted at the district's website and am wondering how the district is getting the community involved so we can all help increase our students' academic achievements.  The December 21, 2011 letter is below.

This two page letter did not go to everyone; if it did you would have seen it on the website and there would have been more chatter. There is still not enough communication regarding this matter so many don't have a clear picture as to what needs to be done. Some parents are being told of the reconfiguration because they children are either in 5th or 6th grade. However, what is not addressed properly is that Plainfield has choice school options; which has also accounted for the increase in some schools. The botton line is at the end of the day many parents are not want to send their children to the two middle schools because they have not had enough positive feedback and based on the "in need of improvement is not going to encourage parents to sent their children to either of these schools.
