a lot of things, but among the many there is a need for "written review of the material which shall reflect the consensus of the teaching staff". Are you reading PEA and PASA? (These two are the district's Unions)
There is a clause on the policy, posted below, that says "Provide an opportunity for public inspection of the recommended text".
I HEART Mr. Hurtt. That is me saying it, not the policy. :-) And I really mean it.
I encourage Plainfield public schools' PTOs, PTAs and all other Home-School organizations to get a copy of the written reviews of every single instructional material that is and will be utilized on every child you represent including yours. Policy 6161.1 Evaluation and Selection of Instructional Materials

The fast-tracked technology programs which are currently being RAMMED through PPS board-approval are absolutely "INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS."
Therefore, "ALEKS" and "Fast ForWord Language" may NOT be purchased unless "Policy 6161.1 Evaluation and Selection of Instructional Materials" is followed!
Don't PPS's administrators get paid to FOLLOW the rules/policies??? What else are they doing WRONG?
Why are these people entrusted with Plainfield's children. We must fire PPS rule breakers, now!
I have a question: If the technology programs had been purchased without "due process," wouldn't that be theft by deception or theft by "ineption"???
***Thank you, Maria and Mr. Hurtt!!!!***
"Due Process"...It Is The Law!
Yes, "ALEKS" and "Fast ForWord Language" are absolutely "INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS." It seems that every NJ School District uses #6161.1 and acknowledges computer-based material as "instructional materials" as referenced in 6161.1:
