Dan's post on the school board and job postings reminded me that there was one advertised job that I had questions on. Now, I am not as good as Dan on getting posting dates, but I had saved the advertisement for the position of Energy Specialist that was taken down on the 25th of this month. What called my attention is that the position was advertised on the public venue but the posting had a notation that the position was only available to Former and Current Employees. I found it odd but I am not an expert so please give your opinion on this matter, it will be appreciated.
It is also worth noting that the position was filled at one of the BOE meetings, but later that same night the approval was withdrawn, I blogged about this HERE.
So, the questions are: Can the district publicly advertise job openings open to only current and former employees? And was it even proper to approve the appointment of one person, Mr. Sutton, to later withdraw the approval?

I can not be sure but I bet it is illegal
A former employee is no longer an employee correct? I thought a posting is internal or external. Have we EVER seen "former employees" wording. Maria - is this legal? Sean Sutton was the perfect match for this position and now we are looking/interviewing for "someone" else?????? This is a waste of time/money/morale.
7:37,
I am as puzzled as you on this one. I can't recall any "former employees" wording, but then again, I don't check all job postings all the time. I still hope a reader might be able to help before attempting to extract answers from the district or BOE. Thanks!
This sounds like a B###S*** job if you ask me. You would think the top facilities person in each facility, in combination with the top building and grounds person in the district, would have the expertise and wherewithal to get this done without padding the payroll.
