DNJB Sends Us This Sample: BOE Meetings Tapes

If there were questions on the legality or the how to on how to make school board meetings more accessible to parents and the community here comes a reader, DNJB, and offers a sample on how one other district does it. Click HERE to view more videos or check the one below to see how it is done.

Thanks DNJB!

It's kind of sad how badly things are run sometimes. You need a camera, and an account on ustream.tv, plus a functioning internet conection. That's all you need to live stream and have archived recordings available of anything you want. Yes quality will be a function of your setup (ie mics, mixing board, camera(s)), but to just get it out there is dead simple.

I know there may be some specific requirements on how this is accomplished since it is a gov't organization...however wouldn't something be better than nothing even if it's not 100% by the book. Same goes for the city council meetings - a few mics a mixing board, a computer with a video capture card and a video camera would be all you need.

Maria, why aren't you going for the open seat on the BOE. Seems like your ideas could help promote change from within.

5:32,

These past two days I have been trying to catch our local official meetings at the public access channel and the little bits and pieces I have seen sure could use better light and sound, never mind a better timing. Maybe a group of volunteers could help? Thanks!

8:37,

Being one of only a two adults houselhold with young children limits my time to evening meetings. Besides, so far I have felt I can do more as an outsider than if I were an insider. Thanks.
