This afternoon I received some of the responsive documents to an OPRA request that I filed on January 12th. The OPRA requests called, among a list of various documents, for the Woodland/Barlow Construction Specifications that were submitted to the state by the Plainfield school board on December 20th, 2011. I wanted to see what the Specifications looked like and what the changes would call for at these two schools.
What I was not expecting to find at that the December 20th adopted construction specifications were the specific class size for Abbott district schools. So, it seems the school district and the school board (and the administrators) all knew that the district is not in compliance with class sizes as they exist right now. Just this past Tueday I wondered about the district's presentation on school reconfiguration and their expressed "District Preference for Class Size" (page 2) and what the mandates called for. Now we know what we should had known long time ago about class sizes, hopefully the school board and the district will soon comply with Abbott class size regulations, especially now that we all know what we all know.
Now you see why I request official documentation. Click HERE for the entire, incomplete, OPRA response. Below is page 6 from the construction specifications that talks of what class size should be as per Abbott District Facilities Model. (Please click the link below to see the page)

What are they going to do about it?
Maria,
Did you know whether Jefferson has an excess of students at 6th grade level. This grade level seems to have been left out from your list a few days ago, according to my source.
8:53,
According to Dec's monthly enrollment report there are 24 students, teacher listed is Washington (George W?). Then for Sp Ed there are 14 students, but these are students from 4th to 6th. Hope this helps. Thanks.
